Successful conduct of acceptable elections into Sokoto State Local Government council is our target. It means a programme designed devoid of rancor and acrimony. I am of the view that conduct of sound elections at grass root is the only way of ensuring, maintaining and strengthening of democracy in the country.

   State Independent Electoral Commission

The Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission was established in March, 2000. This is in compliance to section 197 of 1999 Constitution and backed by Sokoto State 2000 Local Government Law.

The Commission has a responsibility of organising undertaking and supervising all elections to Local Government Council within Sokoto State. It also has the power to render such advice, as it may consider necessary to Independent National Electoral Commission on the compilation of and the register of voters in so far as that register is applicable to Local Government elections in the State.

Conduct of free, fair, credible and acceptable Local Government elections is our objectives.
