Barrister Ibitokun, Olajide, Anthony Pedro, was born on the 23rd of August, 1961. He hailed from the ancient town of Ibeshe in the old Badagry Division of Lagos State.
Having completed his First School Leaving Certificate, the young Tokun, as he is fondly called by many, attended the Lagos African Church Grammar School, Ifako, Agege between 1973-1978 for his Senior Secondary School Certificate after which he proceeded further to the then Lagos State College of Science and Technology, Isolo, Lagos between 1980-1982 for his higher education.
A vibrant, focused and ever inspiring Tokun, with penchant and zeal for success in life, did not rest on his oars and immediately he finished his course at LACOSTEC as it was then called, enrolled at the Nation's Premier University, i.e. University of Ibadan between 1982-1983 where he was offered provincial admission to read Philosophy.
As an articulate and dynamic young man, Tokun, while still studying Philosophy at Ibadan, got another admission in 1983 into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to study Law and later in 1986 graduated with a LL.B degree in Law. After his graduation, he did his mandatory National Youth Service programme with the Legal Aid Council in Abeokuta, Ogun State, his place of primary assignment being the Chambers of O. A. Adeyemi & Co. Oke-Ilewo, Ibara, Abeokuta. Tokun returned to the same University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos for his second degree and afterwards bagged his LL.M degree at Law. In his undergraduate days, Barr. Tokun was elected Public Relations Officer of the Law Society, University of Lagos - 1985/86 session. He was also the Editor-in-Chief, "The Lawyer" (Vol.xvi) a publication of The Law Society, University of Lagos. He had a bias for property law.
Barr. Tokun began his working career (post call) with Sola Martins & Co. Legal Practitioners & Notaries Public, between 1988-1990. He later joined the Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo, Lagos as property law lecturer between 1990-2002 and also worked as a part-time Law Lecturer at the Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, and several higher institutions of learning .
Barr. Tokun was to later established his Law firm, TOKUN PEDRO & CO. where he is the Principal Partner, Solicitors, Property Consultants, Attorneys and Estate Administrators, from 1990 till date.
A devout Christian and Man of God, Barr. Pedro was the anointed Pastor-in-Charge, Wonderful Parish, Redeemed Christian Church of God (R.C.C.G) from 2003 till March 2007, after which he was transferred to Pastor The Signs and Wonders Arena. While he got his Post-Graduate Diploma in Theology, from the Redeemed Christian Bible College in 1999, he was ordained as a Deacon by the Redeemed Christian Church of God in the same year 1999. He is currently the arrow-head of the School of Disciples, Fadeyi Centre under Zone 2 of Province 39, Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Barr. Pedro who was further ordained as an Assistant Pastor by the R.C.C.G in 2004 was also a graduand of the School of Disciples (R.C.C.G) in 2006. He was the founder & Co-ordinator, Businessmen' s Lunch-Hour Fellowship, based on 67, Simpson Street, Ebute-Metta, Member, Campaign for Democracy, Member, Committee for Democracy & Human Rights, Coordinator, member, Mainland Youth Progressive Association, member, Gani Fawehinmi Solidarity Association, National Prostate Cancer Coalition, Nigeria (An NGO on awareness, advocacy and early detection of Prostate Cancer). He was also in 1993 seconded from Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo as a member of the compilation and inauguration of Social Democratic Party (SDP) membership Register of Okota ward in Lagos State.
Barr. Pedro who was recently appointed Electoral Commissioner in the State Independent Electoral Commission, by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Executive Governor of the State for a second term, having been earlier been appointed into the Commission in 2002 had participated actively in the 2002 referendum that preceded the creation of 57 (Fifty-seven) new Local Governments in Lagos State
As an Electoral Commissioner, he also took adequate charge of the preparation, training, logistics supply, personnel supply, supervision and coordination of the councillorship and chairmanship elections into 13 (thirteen) Local Governments in the State, namely; Somolu LG, Bariga LG; Kosofe L.G, Agboyi/Ketu LG, Odi-Olowo-Ojuwoye LG, Ikorodu (West) LG, Ikorodu (North) LG, Ikorodu (Central) LG, Igbogbo/Bayeku LG, Imota LG, Ijede LG, Ikosi/Isheri LG and Mushin LG, respectively. He was also actively involved in the collation and screening of party candidates before the elections as well as the final collation, announcement of elections' results and award of certificate of returns to victorious candidates. Barr. Pedro was privileged as part of members of the Commission that observed the November 2004 Presidential elections of the United States of America, on behalf of the government of Lagos State and monitored the 2003 general elections in Nigeria as part, of his constitutional role as an Electoral Commissioner.
