Mr. Adeoye Ogundipe, a devout Christian, was born in Lagos on 16th October 1947 and hails from Ojo in Lagos State.
He commenced schooling at the tender age of five at the Yaba Methodist School, between 1952 - 1959 after which he proceeded to the famous Igbobi College, Yaba between 1962-1967 for his post-primary education and in the process got his West African School Certificate (WASC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 1965 and 1967 respectively.
With a knack for academic excellence, the young Ogundipe later attended the University of Ibadan (Nigeria's Premier University) between 1968-1971 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree (Econs).
After bagging his first degree in 1971, Mr. Ogundipe started his working career the same year with the Lagos State Government, first as an Accountant deployed to the General Hospital, Lagos and later re-deployed to the Public Service Commission as an Executive Officer. He left the service of Lagos State briefly in 1973 when he joined the Nigerian Institute of Management, as the Pioneer Manager, Membership Servies and later in 1979 joined Texaco Nigeria Limited as the Pioneer Manager, - Ilorin District. In 1981, Mr. Ogundipe joined the Nigerian Bank for Commerce and Industry as Assistant Controller - Investment Appraisal and was in the banking sector till 1986 when he returned to the services of Lagos State as the General Manager, Lagos State Market Development Board. An administrator per-excellence, Mr. Ogundipe was between 1991 - 1994 the Director (Finance and Supplies) in the Environment and Physical Planning Office, Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa and later Director Personnel Management, Ministry of Education between 1994 - 1996.
Mr. Ogundipe who had gained tremendous experience and exposures as a public servant was the Pioneer Chairman of Ifako/Ijaiye Local Council between 1996-1997 and later became the Director of Taxes, Board of Internal Revenue, Lagos State between 1996 - 1999 after which he got to the pinnacle of his career with his appointment as Permanent Secretary, Lagos State and retired in 2001.
Despite his tight schedule both in the private and public sector where he had made his marks, Mr. Ogundipe still created time for some extra-curricular activities, as he was between 1969 - 1970 the Secretary General, Association of International Students of Economics and Business (AIESEC); Member, Committee on Resuscitation of Lagos State Waste Management Authority-1990 and Member Committee for Preparation of Handing Over Note to the Civilian Government of Lagos State, 1993.
He was also a member, Lagos State Scholarship Board, 1995-1999, Member Salary Harmonization for Teachers in Lagos State, 1995; Member, Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, 1997 - 1999 and Member, State Government Negotiating Team for Minimum Wage, 2002.
Mr. Ogundipe was also between 2001 -2002 the Secretary, Committee for the Creation of Additional Local Government Councils in Lagos State, Member, The Committee on Sharing of Assets and Liabilities for Local Governments in Lagos State, 2002. He remained a member of the Choir of the Hoare's Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Yaba from 1959 till date.
While Mr. Ogundipe had over the years attended numerous management courses both locally and internationally, he has before his recent appointment as an Electoral Commissioner in the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Executive Governor, been a life -Member, The Nigerian Economic Society, Associate Member, Nigeria Institute of Management and also an Associate Member, Nigeria Institute of Texation.
Mr. Ogundipe is happily married and blessed with children
