ELECTIONS

The ISIEC has taken necessary steps to meet the demands of the office.  When the tenure of office of the elected Local Government Chairmen and Councilors in the State expired in 2002 and election was fixed for April 2002.  ISIEC was ready but INEC was not ready with the voters register.  The selection was postponed to August, 2002 yet INEC was not ready with the voters register.

Under the Aegis of FOSIECON (Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria), it was agreed that Local Government election should hold throughout the Country on Saturday, June 21st 2003.  The ISIEC has done its own home-work by screening all candidates from the political parties in the state, fielding candidates for the forthcoming Local Government election.

A new date of the Local Government election in the State will be announced in due course possibly after the restructuring of the Local Government in the country.
