ELECTIONS

ELECTION 2004 RESULTS

LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS 2004

The Local Government Elections in Gombe State took place like most other States of the federation on the 27th March 2004.

Our preparation is the same as in all cases of election conducted by GOSIEC. The following areas were fully taken care of:

ELECTION BUDGET:
we presented our budget to the state Governor and was accepted.

VOTER’S EDUCATION:
The commission visited all the 11 local government areas of Gombe State and held meetings with all political parties, local government chairmen, elders, traditional leaders and rulers in each local government area, with a view to educating them on the election procedures and the need for security and cooperation of all and sundry.

VOTER’S REGISTER:
We ensured that voter’s registers in the state were updated.

ADHOC STAFF:
We recruited Adhoc staff and trained them and were advised to report to their places of election early on Election Day.

ELECTION MATERIALS:
Election materials were purchased and stored under police custody.

ELECTORAL GUIDELINE AND ELECTORAL TIME TABLE:
These were provided before the Election Day.

SECURITY:
Security of personnel and election materials were extensively discussed with the state police commissioner and SSS Director before the election.
The Chairman and commission members were actively involved in the over all supervision on Election Day.
