To conduct a credible and an acceptable election in the state; towards sustaining the existing peaceful co-existence of all segments of the state.

» History and Mission Statement And Objective Of Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission

The 1999 constitution on the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Section 197 empowers each states of the Federation to establish its own Electoral Commission.  Consequently, in March, 2001, the State Government inaugurated the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission with a Chairman and Six Electoral Commissioners.

A career civil servant was appointed the Secretary.

The objectives of the Commission include

(i) The conduct of local government election in the state

(ii) creation of wards and

(iii) playing advisory role to INEC in matters relating to the registration of voters.
