Mr Eric Ohwavwodiasa Etederhi Osharode was born on 8 November, 1956 into the family of Chief James Etederhi Osharode and Chief Mrs. Grace Osharode both hails form Evwreni town, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. Mr Eric Osharode attended L.A. Primary School, Bomadi in 1963 to 1969 where he obtained the First School leaving Certificate with merit. Between 1963 and 1974. He was admitted into the Midwest College, Effunin, Warri and concluded his Secondary Education at St. Ambrose's College Usiefrum from 1973 to 1974 where he acquired the West Africa Examinations Council. After his graduation from the secondary school in 1974, he got employed as Field Enumerator in Federal Office of Statistics Grade Level 04. However, because of his determination to further his education, in 1978 he resigned from the employment and taught briefly in Government College Bomadi, from there he gained admission into Government College, Ughelli to read for the Higher School Certificate. He left from the Upper Sixth class for the University of Port Harcourt and obtained a B.A (Hons) History in 1982. He did his National Youth Service at Araromi-Ilogbo Secondary School, Lagos 1982 to 1983; where he taught as class room teacher and served as Vice-Principal. Thereafter, he was employed by the Ondo State Government as Classroom teacher salary grade level 08 at St. Matthew's College, Ondo between 1984 - 1985. On 1st April, 1985, he resigned to take up appointment with the Bendel State Civil Service as Administrative Officer Grade VIII on salary grade level 08. he was immediately posted to the Bendel State Liaison Office in 1985 and posted back to Benin in 1987 to the Political Department of the Governor's Office. he got his normal promotion in the Service. On 1st July 1996, he was promoted to the post of Assistant Chief Administrative Officer still in the Political department of the Governor's Office, Asaba, Three years later, he was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer and posted to the Personnel department of the Governor's office to function as Director. he was in this post until October 2001 when he was posted to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry Co-operatives and as Director of Administration and Finance. On the 5th December, 2001, another posting took him to the Ministry of Lands, Surveys and Urban Development as Director of Administration and Finance. he was again posted by May 2005 to the Ministry of Women Affairs Community and Social Development, Asaba as Director of Administration and Finance. On 1st of November, 2006, His Excellency, Governor of Delta State appointed him the Executive Secretary to the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, Asaba and placed on consolidated salary. This post is the equivalent of a Permanent Secretary. A post he is still holding till date.
