Staff of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission has been undergoing training on the electoral process, through her attendance in series of workshops and seminars. These workshops and seminars were held in, Abuja FCT, Kaduna, Kano, Enugu, Kwara just to mention a few.

According to the chairman Benue State Independent Electoral Commission Mr. James Audu Ikye, these workshops were geared towards sensitizing staff of the Commission on the areas where performance can be improved upon in line with the Commission’s strategic objectives.

The Chairman revealed that Benue State Independent Electoral Commission is set to conduct elections at the shortest notice.

Assembly Members Visit BSIEC

Members of Benue State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Local Government, Security and Chieftaincy Affairs paid a working visit to Benue State Independent Electoral Commission.

This visit to the Commission’s headquarters Makurdi, was to assess the level of preparedness for the conduct of council elections in the State. The visit also gave members of the Commission the opportunity to ask questions on several thorny legal issues concerning the electoral process.

Members of the committee were conducted round the premises inspecting the renovated works done. They also inspected the procured non-sensitive election materials.

In another development, Benue State Independent Electoral Commission has also procured Thuraya phones for Members and key staff of the commission in readiness for the council elections. The choice of Thuraya phone was due to rural nature of terrain and the fact that GSM operators are yet to come to Benue State.
