PREPARATIONS

The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission on her part has painstakingly undertaken and executed a process through which credible and reliable elections would be conducted in the third tier of Government

The Commission has been able to:

(a) Renovate facilities at the headquarters.

(b) Establish new Area Offices in the 23 Local Government Areas.

(c) Appoint Electoral Officer and Assistant Electoral Officers at the Local Government Area Offices.

(d) Employ and posted supporting staff to all the Local Government Area Offices.

(e) Screen and clear 56 Chairmanship and 675 Councillorship candidates for the elections.

(f) Release guidelines to the political parties for the conduct of elections.

(g) Procure sensitive and non-sensitive election Materials

(h) Train staff through series of workshop and seminars.

(i) Recruit and train Ad-hoc staff for the election.

In Benue State therefore, the functions of Benue State Independent Electoral Commission are spread out in 3,691 polling units, 276 Council wards in the 23 Local Government Areas.
